2017年，张志远弥留之际，仍牵挂弟子成长与中医传承，特意嘱托张成博：
“我一生著述颇丰，得意之作有三部。待我走后，愿将这三部与你和师弟的三部著作，作为入殓之枕，放入棺柩，以此圆我‘回归道山’的夙愿。”
张成博深知，恩师以书为枕，是期盼学术生命长存，医道永不熄灭。以道为归，是将毕生所悟托付后人，放下浮名功利，唯以医道福泽百姓为毕生追求。
